Irregular heartbeats occur when the heart is either beating too slowly or when it is beating at a more rapid pace.

Additionally, expectant or new mothers should take serious precautions and inform their physician of any specific situations like pregnancy or nursing, as Soma may cause birth defects. The drug can also be passed through the mother's milk, which could pose potential health risks to the child.

Some other important issues to discuss with a doctor prior to taking Soma are certain conditions such as, a history of any dependencies to drugs or alcohol, and any problems associated with the liver or kidneys.

Patients are also cautioned not to drive while taking Soma or to engage in anything that could be considered dangerous.
